Firday evening at the Sylvio Cator Stadium in front of thousands of supporters, including President Jovenel Moïse, his wife Martine and Régine Lamur, the new Minister of Youth and Sports and Civic Action, our Grenadiers dominated Nicaragua in the double confrontation of playoffs for the 14th edition of the 2017 Gold Cup (7 to 26 July 2017 in USA).

In the first period, on a lawn soaked by the recent rains, disposed in 4-3-3 by Josaphat, our Grenadiers opened hostilities by multiplying the opportunities with discipline and without haste. Jeff Louis at the 19' opens the scoring with a powerful strike in favor of Haiti [1-0] at 6 minutes of the half-time our Grenadiers very in form inscribes to the 41' a second goal [2-0].

At halftime the score remains [2-0] in favor of Haiti

After the break, Nicaragua is more offensive but the Grenadiers remains to maneuver and Jeff Louis scored a third goal in the 55', his second of the match.

Jean-Claude Josaphat, then made 3 changes.

Taking advantage of a Haitian error Carlos Chavarria at the 86' reduced the score by scoring the first and only goal of the match in favor of Nicaragua [3-1]

With this victory, our Grenadiers have a good option on their ticket for the 2017 Gold Cup, which they will have to validate on Tuesday, March 28 in Managua in a decisive return match.

To defeat Haiti Nicaragua will have to win by 2 to 0. In case of a draw or a defeat by a single goal of difference, it is Haiti that will join in group B the teams USA, Panama and Martinique in July in the 2017 Gold Cup.
